Bodies, Bliss and Dreams

I woke up recently remembering a beautiful, erotic dream. For me, the word erotic is much richer and more diverse than its sexual connotation. It implies the natural and elemental pleasure that all earthly creatures are capable of experiencing.

This part of our nature easily gets overrun when we overly identify with our thinking, rational mind. When we are only thinking our way through life instead of feeling our way, we miss out on many of the simple pleasures, and the intuitive knowing that comes through embodiment.

In this particular dream, I felt an ecstatic subtle-body connection, the kind we explore in Partner Yoga. I woke up feeling inspired and connected to my wild and precious life…

It reminded me of another dream I once had during a Partner Yoga Training. It was an enlightening dream of pure awake awareness. I knew it had been inspired by the presence of one of the participants and felt sure I would remember it, as it felt so profound—but by morning, it had slipped back into the ethers.

Later that day, while in a posture with this person, the dream came flooding back. It took me by surprise, and I felt so much joy—not just for remembering the dream, but for the depth of human connection that inspired it.

Our bodies and our beings contain so much magic and mystery. But we have to slow down enough to sense it and feel it. We have to be willing to go beyond the safe and familiar to tap into this mysterious energy that is always urging us toward greater life.

Partner Yoga is a tool that reminds us of our natural capacity for pleasure. We get to feel the bliss that is possible when we connect with others with clear, safe boundaries and open hearts and minds.

When we share embodied presence, we become more available to a universal field of intelligence—what some call Love. And when we listen deeply to what emerges, we engage our capacity to change, to evolve beyond patterns that no longer serve us.

The body is not just the vehicle that carries us through this life. It is a microcosm of universal intelligence that we can learn, together, to tap into.

AI is seemingly miraculous in its capacities—and has taken us to the frontier of accumulated conceptual knowledge. Perhaps it is also revealing its limits, as (so far) it only reveals the known.

To me it seems the wisdom of the body, both physical and subtle, is still mostly unexplored territory, especially our capacity for direct knowing that comes through listening to its messages.

The theme for the upcoming gifted training is self-presence, learning to more deeply connect with ourselves through the presence and support of others.

Yoga experience is helpful, but not required. Partner Yoga is, at its core, about embodied relating—to ourselves, to each other, and to the elemental energies that surround us.
